Bare Bright Copper

 

Cherry wire consists of  individual strands that are 14ga and thicker bare wire.  Must be bright and shiny, uncoated and unalloyed. (berry)

No. 1 Copper

 

#1 Copper consists of 14ga and thicker bare wire and clean copper pipe.  May have a slight tarnish but must be free of paint, solder and unalloyed. (candy)

 

No. 2 Copper

 

Any bare copper that has no more than 5% contamination or that may consist of the following; solder, paint. lead coated wire, excessive oil, wire that has been burnt clean free of plastic pieces and individual wire strands that are under 14ga. *Note, even though you have copper strands that are bright and shiny, if they are under 14ga it is automatically graded as #2.  (Birch)

Any miscellaneous, unalloyed copper scrap that has 10% contamination that may consist of the following; solder, paint , lead coated wire, excessive oil, wire that has been burnt clean with some contamination, small amount of alloyed contamination. (Dream)

#1 Insulated Copper Wire . 70% Recovery

 

Insulated copper wire with the individual strands 14ga and thicker that are unalloyed with a 70-80% + copper weight recovery.  This wire must not have any plug ends attached. (Droid)

No. 2 Copper Wire
(No Ends)

 

Shall consist of miscellaneous insulated copper wire smaller than 10 gauge and wire with tin coatings. burning. All ends must be cut off. There should be a minimum 50 to 79% copper recovery.

No. 3 Copper Wire (With Ends)

 

Shall consist of miscellaneous insulated copper wire smaller than 16 gauge and wire with tin coatings. Examples would be extension cords, cat 5 cable, telephone wire, communication wire and telephone wire. No TV cable wire or copper wire from burning. Plug ends are allowed.
